Vice President Kashim Shettima
Vice President of Nigeria

Sen. Kashim Shettima

Former Governor of Borno State (2011–2019) · Former Senator, Borno Central

Kashim Shettima has been Vice President of Nigeria since May 29, 2023, completing the Tinubu–Shettima ticket that won the 2023 general election. A former banker turned public servant, he served two terms as Governor of Borno State through the darkest years of the Boko Haram insurgency, before representing Borno Central in the Senate ahead of his election as Vice President.

Why Shettima Matters to the Ticket

Tested Under Fire

As Governor of Borno State during the height of the insurgency, Shettima led the state through security and humanitarian crises that few Nigerian leaders have had to face — building a reputation for resilience and hands-on crisis management.

A Bridge to the North-East

Shettima's deep roots in Borno and standing across the North-East make him central to APC's outreach in a region critical to a repeat national mandate in 2027.

An Active Vice Presidency

Beyond ceremonial duties, Shettima has taken a hands-on role — representing Nigeria at international forums, chairing key economic and security councils, and deputising for the President on state visits.
